FAQs

What does a session cost and how do I pay?
My fee is $150/60-minute session which is consistent with the rates recommended by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (bc-counsellors.org)
As part of my commitment to making Mental Health services more accessible, I offer sliding scale rates on a case-by-case basis - please contact me directly if you have trouble affording the standard fee.

Cash, e-transfer, and credit payments are accepted. Payment is expected at the time of the appointment and a receipt will be issued.

Are your services covered by insurance?
Most insurance providers cover counselling services with a Registered Social Worker. It's best you contact them to confirm that you are covered . I am currently fully registered with both the BC and Alberta Colleges of Social Workers.

Do you direct bill?
Unfortunately, no. I can provide a receipt with my credentials to be submitted in a claim to your provider.

How many sessions does it usually take to see results?
People can benefit from as little as a single session, however my approach to therapy is one that goes for depth which can take more time. The amount of sessions you have will be up to you and I am always happy to work together with folks to come up with a plan that suits their needs and resources.

How frequently should we meet?
I believe that you're in the best position to decide what works best for you. You may want to consider the demands of your time, energy, and finances. Some people find that once a week is really helpful in gaining traction, especially to get us started, and other people really appreciate more space between sessions (up to several weeks!). I won't pressure you into making a commitment and we can work together to determine what works best for you.

What can I expect in a first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other a little bit. You can expect a conversation about your rights as a client and my responsibilities as your counsellor. The first session is the time for you to share your concerns and the things you've been up against alongside your hopes and imaginations for our conversations and your life.

Where is your office and where do I park?
My office is conveniently located in Strathcona Plaza in beautiful Comox, BC. There is plenty of parking space.

Is your space accessible?
If you have any issues with stairs, please note this when contacting me so I can make any necessary accommodations for your visit.

Any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
